Your Permit, Clarified

Estonia's system is clear and fast. We help you pick the right one.

Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) for Employment

This is the standard long-term permit for non-EU citizens with a job offer in Estonia. It's granted for up to 5 years and is renewable.

  • Requires a signed employment contract.
  • Your employer must typically get permission from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (except for top specialists).
  • Tied to a specific employer and role.
EU Blue Card (Estonia)

For highly-qualified professionals. This permit offers more flexibility and a faster track to long-term EU residency.

  • Requires a university degree or 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Your salary must be at least 1.5 times the Estonian national average.
  • Provides greater mobility to work in other EU countries.
Short-Term Employment (D-Visa)

Ideal for project-based work, seasonal jobs, or as a faster way to start working while your TRP is in process. Valid for up to 365 days.

  • Simpler, faster registration process.
  • Requires a D-Visa (long-stay visa) for entry and work.
  • Your employment must be registered with the Police and Border Guard Board.
Digital Nomad Visa (DNV)

A unique Estonian innovation. Allows you to live in Estonia for up to one year while working remotely for a foreign employer or your own foreign-registered company.

  • You **cannot** work for an Estonian company with this visa.
  • Must prove a monthly income of at least €4,500.
  • Perfect for freelancers, remote workers, and entrepreneurs.
